2/14 What Matters Most

At Gateway Austin in the last few months, we’ve accepted the challenge of a new life, simplified, and imagined heaven. In our next series at Gateway South, we want to focus on what’s most important to live a life with purpose and intentionality. Inspired by the book of Colossians, this series is designed to help you realize that you matter way more than you think!

Next Steps | #2016ChallengeAccepted (Adventure)

Jan. 31  | #AdventureGoals

God want us to a live life to the fullest, with fun, joy and adventure. He wants us to delight in
Him first, but also to enjoy the adventure that He has for us. Unfortunately, the day-to-day
responsibilities of life, and the challenges that come with them, are often off-ramps on the road
to delight. And some of us fight against boredom, play it safe, and give in to cynicism, causing
us to miss out on all that God has for us. This week we’re looking at goals that will help us get
back on track to the adventure-filled life God has for us. Spend time with these questions, and
then discuss them with your running partner, family over dinner or life group, and use them to
help you create 2016 adventure goals.

Next Steps | #2016ChallengeAccepted (Financial)

#FinancialGoals

Money is involved in everything, such as day-to-day living, going to the doctor, starting a company, and taking a vacation. Everything. So naturally we spend a lot of time thinking about money—what we can do with it and what can happen when we don’t have enough. Many of us spend a good amount of time worrying about money despite that fact the Bible says we’re to do otherwise. We’re meant to both enjoy our money and steward it wisely, with God as the foundation. Work through the following questions, and get together with your running partner, life group, friends, or family around the dinner table and talk through your answers.

Being physically healthy plays a role in how you experience life, which can impact your relationships, faith, and joy. Busy schedules and convenient access to unhealthy food makes maintaining a healthy lifestyle challenging, although it’s worth the effort to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Work through the following questions on your own, and get together with your running partner, life group, or family around the dinner table and talk through your answers.

Next Steps | #2016ChallengeAccepted (Relational)

#RelationalGoals

Relationships can be beautiful. At the same time, they can be messy and challenging. The bottom line: they require both work and are necessary for our personal growth and support. While lasting life-change and accountability happens in the context of healthy relationships and groups, people frequently isolate or turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms rather than stick with relationships and community. This is often because they require intentional commitment and effort including grace and forgiveness, which isn’t always easy. Work through the following questions on your own, and get together with your running partner, life group, or family around the dinner table and talk through your answers.

Next Steps | #2016ChallengeAccepted (Spiritual)

Slide1January 3: #SpiritualGoals

What if this new year you didn’t just approach life’s external realities, but what if you began by addressing internal realities? What if you enacted a plan to take things to the next level spiritually? Might this not only impact your life spiritually, but might this give you the needed strength to address other areas of life? That’s what #2016ChallengeAccepted is all about. But don’t go it alone…join in with community for encouragement and accountability. Work through the following questions, and get together with your running partner, life group, friends, or family around the dinner table and talk through your answers.

Questions—Keys of Change

Uh oh, it’s almost January 1, which means it’s the start of another new year, which for many of us means lamenting what we didn’t do over the past year, while simultaneously fretting about what we ought to do in the year ahead. Sound familiar? Has fear of the unknown been holding you back from pursuing your passions? Work through the following questions on your own, and get together with your running partner, life group, or family around the dinner table and talk through your answers.
